IGNOU Regional Centres Guide & FAQs

Everything you need to know about changing Regional Centres, study centre allocations, and administrative services.

An IGNOU Regional Centre (RC) is the administrative headquarters overseeing academic operations across a cluster of districts or a state. It is responsible for admission approvals, exam centre allocations, hall tickets, practical exam scheduling, and degree distribution. A Study Centre (SC / LSC) is your local college or institute where you attend weekend counseling classes, submit physical assignment copies, and consult subject academic counselors.
You can change your Regional Centre or Study Centre online through the IGNOU Samarth Student Portal (ignou.samarth.edu.in) under the Services → Change of Study Centre / Regional Centre tab. Alternatively, you can submit an application form in person or via registered post to your current Regional Centre with proof of address change. Once approved, your records and student dossier are electronically transferred to the new RC.
Regular assignments must always be submitted to your designated Study Centre (Learner Support Centre) coordinator before the published deadline. However, during certain exam cycles, specific Regional Centres (e.g., RC Delhi 1, Delhi 2, Delhi 3, Noida) activate dedicated Google Forms or email submission links on their official regional websites. Always verify your specific RC's official guidelines before submission.
You can use the live IGNOU Assignment Status Tool on IGNOU MANCH. Once your Study Centre evaluates your assignment scripts, they upload the award list to the Regional Centre. When transmitted to headquarters, the status changes to "Check Assignment Status - Received & in-process". Marks then reflect on your Grade Card within 15 to 30 days.
If an RC does not respond within 3 to 5 business days, lodge an official ticket on the IGNOU Grievance Redress And Management (iGRAM) portal (igram.ignou.ac.in). iGRAM tickets are monitored directly by the Student Service Centre (SSC) at Maidan Garhi headquarters and typically mandate an official response within 72 hours.
